Gemini Studios has worked with Martin Luther High School out of Northrop, MN for the better part of the last 20 years. MLHS is the only school in the area that offers Television Media Production and Broadcasting. Students earn 1 fine arts credit/year by participating in this elective class. Bruce Abitz instructed the class for many years before passing it on to Dave McKnight and is now is instructed by John Duderstadt Jr. who began in the 2015/2016 school year.
The school year begins with the introduction of essential equipment, their functions, and proper care. This includes cameras, microphones, Tricasters, mixing boards, and more.
We then focus on putting the equipment to use in live sports broadcasting. The students are put into stressull, real life situations where every action they take is broadcasted live on the Gemini Studios Website, Facebook and Youtube.
The students attend class at Gemini Studios where we focus on studio shoots. This consists of script writing, story board creations, multi-camera shoots, green screens, sets, lighting, sound, wardrobe and personal presentation.
Finally we take everything we have filmed and begin the editing process. This includes education in the use of programs such as Adobe Premiere Elements, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects and more.
